Newsletter February 2025
Dear Parents and carers,
We hope you had a wonderful half term holiday. This term is really busy with lots of activities and festivals to celebrate 😊
This week :
Rainbows are focussing on Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and the sunshine on Three Little Pigs – with lots of focus on storytelling and counting.
Next week – 3rd March
Pancake day on 4th March with lots of pancake play and tasting.
World Book Day on Thursday 6th March – we invite the staff and children to bring in a favourite book, and if they want to they can dress up as a character from a book.
Week 10th March
We celebrate Holi on 14th March– please send your child in old clothes as we plan a lot of paint splatting. – it would be fabulous to have our Indian families come and share dancing or costumes or photos.
Wednesday 12th March parents evening 4 pm – 7 pm your chance to chat to staff about your child’s development.
Week 17th March
St Patrick’s day Monday 17th – lots of celebrations and fun.
The next few weeks
We are focusing on communication and language, stories and reading books with the children. Please do come and choose a book to take home and share, which you can change each day with your child. If you have to dash to work – we will change the book with your child for you. It would be lovely to hear if you liked the story or pictures – you can pop a message on Facebook in the comments.
We welcome over the next few weeks any families who speak another language to come and read a simple story in their language to our children – it is so important for all the children to hear stories in various languages but our skills don’t quite stretch that far 😊
Week commencing 24th March
We continue with communication, celebrating Chatter Matters week, where again we focus on language development, ‘to and fro’ conversation, building up sentences and more . We will also celebrate Mothers’ Day and think about our Mums. Then we will have two weeks of Easter fun.
Fundraising
The extra fundraising activities that we do have a big impact on Little Stars & our finances, so please do support us wherever you can. Maybe you can help preschool run a fundraising activity in the future ? Here are some of the ways you can support us:-
Bags 2 school
Our next collection will be on Wednesday 5th March at 9.00 am , so if you are having a clear our please bring any bags in by Tuesday 4th
The bag 2 School scheme collects the following ‘good quality’ used items for re-use:
Men’s, Ladies and Children’s clothing (no school uniform with logo)
Paired shoes (tied together or elastic band around)
Handbags, Hats & bags
Scarves, belts & ties
Jewellery
The scheme then pays Little Stars according to the weight of items collected! We can often raise £100, although last time it was less we are hopeful this time.
Marshalling at Regency Run
Thanks to those who have signed up to help us – we need another 4 people if possible to help us. Please let us know if you can help marshal traffic at the Regency Run – please save the date Sunday 6th April 9.00 am till 11.30 am – to redirect traffic, chat and raise £250 or even £500 for preschool.
A few reminders
- Please do make sure that your child’s water bottle and lunch box are clearly labelled with their name. We have children with food allergies so this is very important.
- Please make sure that grapes and tomatoes are cut up into quarters lengthways.
- Please can you put a spare pair of trousers and underwear in your child’s bag, our spares have completely run out.
Places for September and any extra hours needed for this academic year
If you were planning on increasing your hours from April, please talk to Sara as soon as possible as many sessions are filling and the phone is ringing with new enquiries.
We will be asking you later this half term to let us know about your intentions in September so we can plan. Please promote Little Stars to potential families, especially any 3 year olds.
Love from Sara Rouse and all of the Little Stars Team
