Little Stars Christian Preschool
Newsletter February 1st 2022
Dear Parents and carers
We have had a lovely start to the term, children have really enjoyed our transport fun and learning – the visit to the garage across the road being a highlight – which broadened their play. We have had lots of goldilocks and the 3 bears fun – trying porridge and honey sandwiches – making bears, playing in oats and lots more – we now are in the middle of Chinese New Year, with dancing and crafts and noodle play.
Hello and Goodbyes
We sadly said goodbye to Mrs Qaisar, who left us to care for her elderly mother. But we are delighted to welcome Miss Nicole Wilson to our team. Nicole will be working mostly in the Sunshine room in the mornings but also in the afternoons with all of the children – make sure you say hello to her, she is well qualified and is a wonderful asset to our lovely team.
We are beginning to say hello to a few more families as our staffing issues improve. Staff are busy doing on entry assessments of the newer children and are happy to chat to you about how they are settling. The next parent review time for all children will be towards the end of March when we will share their progress and agree any next steps to support their development.
How can you help Little Stars?
We normally do lots of fundraising to improve our resources – and would like to replenish our outdoor area. Unfortunately for the last 2 years due to the pandemic we have been unable to raise funds with large events such as Christmas craft/wreath evenings, quizzes and fairs. We need your help now :-
- We have another Bags for school collection on 2nd March, the last one was not very well supported and we only received £60.00 – please have a good look in your wardrobes, ask your neighbours or family. We collect unwanted clothes, shoes, bags, belts, soft toys etc. Please deposit bags at Stars before 2nd
- If you shop online please use Easy fundraising or Amazon Smile – it is so easy, I do all my online shopping through these and we receive a donation. https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/littlestarscp/
- Do you have any great ideas about fundraising – please chat to the staff and let them know.
Whilst we understand that getting out of the house with a young child is hard, and some families have separate arrangements with us. We are struggling to maintain keeping the door open until 10.00 am waiting for you. So, we have started to close it from 9.30. Please just ring the doorbell and someone will let you in, but the staff are teaching at that time so will not be able to stay and chat.
Similarly – often families are arriving to collect their child after the morning session 20 minutes late, our end time is 12.15. Staff are needed for the children who are staying for lunch and we have been struggling to care for those who are left. It is also distressing for those children whose parents are late. Please do try to collect on time and telephone us if you are going to be late.
We still have families trying to ring us on the wrong number. Our phone number is 01926 477597. When we ring you, a different number shows on your phone – but this is not our number, it is the Church office number which we don’t pick up. So please don’t press redial but please save our number in your telephone. We do have the mobile number but this is used after hours mostly.
We have 3 more weeks of this term left, we close on Friday 18th February for 1 week opening again on 28th February.
We would love to hold a coffee morning again, where you can come and have coffee, toast and cake, meet other families and chat together – please let us know if this is something you would like to join in with.
We enjoy noting down when the children have a “wow” moment and sharing them with you – it may be writing their name, sharing, toilet training, making a great model…
We would love you to share any “wow” moments you have had at home – we have enjoyed the ones sent in so far… attached is a sheet – but you can always tell staff and we will write it down and share the moment with the child and their friends.
Please hold your children’s hands when leaving Little Stars, or use reins – we have continued to see a few scary moments. Children do not have the ability to understand about road safety until they are at least age of 8.
We would really appreciate donations of fresh fruit, anti-bacterial wipes, wet wipes and tissues to help keep the children clean, healthy and well fed at snack time. If you can bring any of these items in we would be most grateful.
Love from Sara Rouse and all of the Little Stars Team
